80's inspired cakes

Hello everyone!

I just made some 1980's inspired dollhouse 1:12 cakes and wanted to share them with you. Since I am a child of the late 80's - early 90's and figured I would have some fun and make something a little bit sillier than what I normally make for Back to the Futures 30th Anniversary. I had a blast doing them and I watched Back to the Future, Breakfast Club, Labyrinth, and my favorite movie growing up, Legend while I made them. It was great to drive down memory lane and I definitely have some serious fantasy inspiration from the last two. I would love to recreate some scenes from Legend and Labyrinth in miniature, or at least some props used in the movies. Sigh, I guess I will just add them to the ongoing list of amazing things that I hope I will find time to complete one day!

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy them! <3 xoxoxo

I'm in the garden....

I don't know about you, but I had gardening on my mind all summer and I just had to make some minis with that theme in mind.

I hope you enjoy them!

spring showers

Hey everyone! I hope everyone's spring is going well! I know it has been a beautiful spring here and the gardens have been bursting with flowers since it has been raining everyday. I got inspired and revamped some miniature rain boots and made a little sign for my mother inlaw's miniature craft room. I hope you enjoy them!

International Guild of Miniature Artists Artisan

I did it! It's official... I made it into the guild!

Last year I set a goal (after my grandmother passed) to stop dilly dallying and try my best at becoming an established dollhouse miniature artist. The first step for me was to attempt getting recognized as an Artisan by the International Guild of Miniature Artists. I was beyond nervous and I have never really had anyone look at my work before, never mind amazingly talented master artist fellows, in other words the best of the best. But, I took a leap of faith in hoping that there was a chance that maybe my work might be good enough. In the end I really had nothing to lose besides the horrible feeling of not meeting their standards and even that would be ok because their critiques would only help my progress as an artist. I'm not going to lie, I really didn't think I could make it. I am very shy in general about my work and only recently, the past year or so, have I been coming out of my turtle shell and attempting to share on social media sites.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my happiness with everyone and to encourage any other fledgling miniaturists to try and submit their work to the guild. I feel that in the end, whether you get in or not, the members of the guild are extremely friendly and helpful. They encourage artists and lovers of miniatures to contribute to the continuation of this amazing and magical passion of tinyness! ( a made up word but a good one nonetheless) <3

Here are some photos of the pieces I submitted in dollhouse 1:12 scale. I hope you enjoy them as much as I loved making them!

Memorial Day

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the veterans and I figured I would show my appreciation by making some remembrance poppies in miniature.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
